ITINERARY:​

DAY 1: MANILA LISBON

Departure Manila on board EMIRATES AIRLINES. Enjoy inflight meals and entertainment.

 

DAY 2: LISBON (D)

Arrival in Lisbon. Upon arrival, the group will be met by an English speaking guide for a brief orientation tour before heading to your hotel. Your informative local guide will tell you about Portugal’s Restoration years and what effect this period had on the places you will see during your three-hour tour. Your first visit -- the district of Belem. Belem’s most famous features are the 16th-century Tower of Belem and the Jerónimos Monastery. You’ll also see Monument to the Discoveries, erected in 1960 to honor the 500th anniversary of the death of Henry the Navigator. Aftewards, transfer to hotel for dinner and check in.

 

DAY 3: LISBON – FATIMA – OBIDOS – NAZARE – LISBON (B/D)

After breakfast, head north on a day trip to the beautiful villages of Fátima, Nazaré and Óbidos. Get comfortable in an airconditioned vehicle as you start your journey toward the town of Fátima, a once-sleepy rural village that became an important pilgrimage site when three shepherd children reported apparitions of the Virgin Mary in 1917. Visit the Sanctuary of Fatima, a basilica that honors the apparition and attracts millions of Catholic pilgrims every year who go to pay their respects to the shrine. Next, visit the 14th-century Batalha Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that illustrates the rich artistic heritage of the late 1300s. Discover the impressive royal burial site at the basilica’s Founder’s Chapel, where King João I, Queen Philippa of Lancaster and their son Prince Henry the Navigator were buried. Next, head to the Nazaré cliffs and continue through the picturesque villages of Foz do Arelho and São Martinho do Porto. Finally, make your way to the medieval village of Óbidos. Founded in 208 BC, Óbidos is commonly known in Portugal as the 'wedding present town', as it was a gift from King Dinis to Queen Isabel on their wedding day in 1282.

 

DAY 4: LISBON – MERIDA – SEVILLE (B/D)

After breakfast, early morning departure to Merida. The city of Merida was political and cultural center of Hispania Rome. Merida was conquered by the Muslims in 713 A.D. After a 500-year period of decline, the city was virtually abandoned until the 1500's. Visit the Roman Ruins, before heading to your final destination for today. Upon arrival in Seville, you will check in at your hotel followed by dinner.

 

DAY 5: SEVILLE (B/D)

After breakfast leave your hotel for your full-day sightseeing tour around spectacular Seville – the capital of Spain’s Andalucía region. The lavish square in Maria Luisa Park – and learn of its creation for the 1929 Ibero-American Exposition World’s Fair. As you travel, your guide will point out other top Seville attractions like the Palace of San Telmo and Torre Del Oro – an eye-catching building that once held precious metals from America. Continue through Seville’s Santa Cruz quarter and you’ll soon understand why so many describe it as the city’s prettiest neighborhood. Watch out for two UNESCO World Heritage-listed attractions here – Royal Alcazar Palace (or Real Alcazar Palace as it's known in Spain) and Seville Cathedral, then visit the Bullring of the Royal Maestranza museum to explore at leisure. Dinner with Flamenco.

 

DAY 6: SEVILLE – CORDOBA – MADRID (B/D)

Early morning departure from your hotel and head to Cordoba. A highlight of your tour of Cordoba is a visit to the Catholic cathedral, converted from a mosque when the Christians conquered Cordoba in 1236. With nearly 1,000 pillars, the cathedral's original Gothic architecture is combined with Baroque and Renaissance elements. You'll see the remarkable Cardinal's Chapel and its treasures, including an ivory crucifix and important sculptures and paintings. Next, you'll visit the old Jewish quarter, stepping back in time to the era of the Romans and Goths. You will see one of the few synagogues existing today in Spain, built in 1315, as well as many important monuments to Cordoba's most important sons, including the Roman philosopher Seneca, Arabian philosopher Averroes and the Jewish philosopher Maimonides. Then head on to Madrid.

 

DAY 7: MADRID – TOLEDO - MADRID (B/D)

After breakfast, transfer to Toledo, for your sightseeing tour, travel southwest to Toledo – an ancient UNESCO-listed city that is often considered as the spiritual capital of Spain. Our guide will tell you about the ancient city and its countless attractions. The journey takes roughly an hour, leaving you with a good three hours in town to see the city highlights. Many attractions are clustered around the Old Town, so head there first to see Catedral de Toledo – a Mudejar and Renaissance building that represents the heart of Catholic Spain. Then after lunch back to Madrid for your shopping the whole afternoon, before you proceed to the dinner, then back to hotel.

 

DAY 8: MADRID - BARCELONA (B/D)

You will discover that Madrid is a multifaceted city, from its Arab origins, through to the heady nightlife of present-day Madrid. You will also have the opportunity to explore Madrid by foot. In Madrid Rio, the city's newest area, enjoy a walk from the Puente del Rey to the Puente de Segovia, and admire the beautiful sights of the Royal Palace and its gardens. Later, discover the center of Madrid as you walk from the Plaza de la Villa to the Plaza Mayor, while learning interesting facts from your guide.

 

DAY 9: BARCELONA (B/D)

Discover the exuberance and beauty of Barcelona on a 4.5-hour morning tour of this exquisite Catalan city. Perfect for first-time visitors, this tour is the ideal introduction to Barcelona's famous sights, including the Barcelona cathedral, Gothic quarter, the Olympic Village (Vila Olimpica) and the beautiful Montjuic castle. Sample a glass of cava at the Spanish Village (Poble Espanyol), then take in aerial views of Barcelona's skyline and the city harbor from a cable car (included). Then we set your afternoon free for shopping.

 

DAY 10: BARCELONA – ZARAGOZA – LOURDES (B/D)

Early morning departure from Barcelona and head to Lourdes. You will pass by Zaragoza where you will get the chance to visit the Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar. Afterwards, continue to Lourdes. Lourdes is a small market town lying in the foothills of the Pyrenees, famous for the Marian apparitions of Our Lady of Lourdes said to have occurred in 1858 to Bernadette Soubirous. Upon arrival check in at your hotel.

 

DAY 11: LOURDES (B/D)

Visit the Sanctuary of our Lady of Lourdes, which is the area surrounding the Grotto of Massabielle, where the Virgin Mary (Our Lady of Lourdes) appeared to the 14-year-old Bernadette Soubirous 18 times in 1858. Bernadette went on to be canonized as a saint in 1933. Famous for these apparitions, Lourdes has become a major European pilgrimage site. Check out the Statue of the Crowned Virgin Mary, which stands in the impressive Rosary Square, across from the Rosary Basilica (Basilique Notre Dame du Rosaire). Another must-see sight is the small spring inside the Grotto of Massabielle. Rest of the afternoon is free at leisure before dinner.

 

DAY 12: LOURDES – CARCASSONE – AVIGNON (B/D)

Bid farewell to Lourdes as you head off to Avignon. En route, stop by Carcasonne, a hilltop town in the Languedoc area which is famous for its citadel, la Cite, with numerous towers and double-walled fortifications. Upon arrival check in to your hotel.

 

DAY 13: AVIGNON – GORDES – NICE (B/D)

After breakfast, have a short sightseeing tour of Avignon which is often referred to as the "City of Popes" because of the presence of popes and antipopes from 1309 to 1423 during the Catholic schism, it is currently the largest city and capital of the département of Vaucluse. This is one of the few French cities to have preserved its ramparts. In addition, its historic centre, the palace of the popes, Rocher des Doms, and the bridge of Avignon are well-preserved. It was classified a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Afterwards, head west and visit one of the villages of Luberon, Gordes. Spend some time in this lovely village, before heading to Nice.

 

DAY 14: NICE – MONACO – MONTECARLO – NICE (B/D)

Board your coach and enjoy a scenic drive to the glamorous Principality of Monaco you'll enjoy panoramic views of Villefranche over Cap Ferrat, the Bay of Billionaires and its famous villas. The drive along the Lower Corniche takes you to the Old Town of Monte Carlo, where you will have free time (45 minutes) to visit the palace (open June–Oct), cathedral, stunning gardens and see the changing of the Palace Guards at 11:55am (morning tour only). Continue your tour of the principality by following the Formula One Grand Prix circuit. Stop to see the luxurious Monte Carlo casino, mega yachts and chic boutiques. Also get the chance to know about the process of creating the parfum as you visit Fragonard in Eze.

 

DAY 15: NICE – MANILA (B)

Transfer to the airport for your flight back to Manila.

 

DAY 16: ARRIVAL MANILA

Arrive Manila. Home sweet home!!!
